Table 46

Conlang Year: Week 12

It's week 12, which is also the base that Thekkish uses for numbers. Prompts are here.

Day 78 - Create third-person pronouns, if needed

Just like the previous days, I created both singular and plural forms. Since Thekkish has both animate and inanimate classes for nouns, I ended up making a total of four base third-person pronouns. Here they are in the nominative, accusative, genitive, and dative cases.

he/she (animate) qyɸ qyβ.oŋ qyβ.ɛt qyβ.ɪm

they (animate) qyβm qyβm.oŋ qyβ.mɛt qyβ.mɪm

it (inanimate) ʒɛr ʒɛr.oŋ ʒɛr.ɛt ʒɛr.ɪm

they (inanimate) ʒɛrm ʒɛrm.oŋ ʒɛr.mɛt ʒɛr.mɪm

Day 79 - Organize your pronoun system notes

I've been organizing and tracking the inflections related to the pronouns I've created as I went, so this one is already complete. Instead, I added two more words today.

iron ðɛɢ.a ðɛɢ.aŋ ðɛɢ.at ðɛɢ.aɪm

copper ɣʎʌ.woŋ.ɢa ɣʎʌ.woŋ.ɢaŋ ɣʎʌ.woŋ.ɢat ɣʎʌ.woŋ.ɢaɪm

Astute readers will notice that the base form of the word for iron ends up being ðɛq. This is no coincidence! The city of Thek was named for the nearby hills and their rich iron ore.

Day 80 - Create a personal pronoun chart

My dictionary is in a spreadsheet, meaning that I have a chart including forms with class and case included for every single word I've created so far for Thekkish. This makes it easy for me to tweak something if a particular conjugation ends up being difficult to pronounce and also makes it easy to note when something becomes irregular. No extra work to do today!

Day 81 - Update your dictionary

Just like yesterday, the work on the dictionary is already complete.

Day 82 - Decide if you want demonstrative pronouns

Since I already created demonstrative modifiers back on Day 72 and I am using third-person personal pronouns, I don't think Thekkish has a need for these.

Day 83 - Create demonstrative pronouns (if needed)

Since I decided against these, it's a free day! I did add notes to my demonstrative modifiers indicating that they can only be used with a referent and not on their own.

Day 84 - Document your demonstrative pronouns

I'm keeping up with this, but here's a few examples -

θyʃ ʃɪθ.βan.ɢa - "this rock" (subject of a sentence)

ɾɪmʃθ ʃxu.ɾaŋ - "that dog" (direct object of a sentence)

θyʃ ŋɢaɪ.dʌ.ɾa dwʌɢ.ɾat - "this child's monkey" (subject of a sentence including genitive case)

ɾɪmʃθ θyp.ɢaɪm - "that house" (indirect object of a sentence)
